At Veritas Gifts, we want everyone to be able to use our website with ease. This guide explains the accessibility settings built into the three most widely used web browsers: Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Mozilla Firefox. No additional software is needed — these features are available in each browser today.

Google Chrome
Text size and zoom
Hold Ctrl (or Cmd on a Mac) and press + to zoom in, or – to zoom out. Press Ctrl + 0 to reset. To set a default zoom level for all websites, go to Settings > Appearance > Page zoom.
Font size
To change the default text size across all websites, go to Settings > Appearance > Customise fonts. Options range from Very small to Very large. This adjusts the base font size without altering the overall page layout.
High contrast
Chrome applies your operating system’s high contrast setting automatically. On Windows, go to Settings > Accessibility > Contrast Themes. On macOS, go to System Settings > Accessibility > Display and enable Increase Contrast. You can also install the High Contrast extension from the Chrome Web Store for additional options.
Screen reader support
Chrome works with the most widely used screen readers: NVDA and JAWS on Windows, and VoiceOver on macOS and iOS. On Chromebook, ChromeVox is built in and can be turned on with Ctrl + Alt + Z.
Live captions
Chrome can generate automatic captions for audio and video playing in the browser. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Live Caption and toggle it on. You can also press Ctrl + Shift + H to turn captions on or off at any time.
Keyboard navigation
Press Tab to move forward through links and controls on a page, and Shift + Tab to move back. Press Enter to activate a link or button, and Space to scroll down or tick a checkbox.
Microsoft Edge
Text size and zoom
Use Ctrl + + and Ctrl + – to zoom in and out. To set a default zoom level, go to Settings > Appearance > Zoom. To change only the font size without zooming the full page, go to Settings > Appearance > Fonts.
Read Aloud
Edge can read any web page aloud using a natural-sounding voice. Press Ctrl + Shift + U, or open the browser menu (three dots, top right) and select Read Aloud. You can adjust the reading speed and choose from several voices in the Read Aloud toolbar.
Immersive Reader
Immersive Reader removes navigation menus, sidebars, and other distractions so you can focus on the main content. Press F9, or look for the book icon in the address bar. Within Immersive Reader, you can adjust text size, line spacing, and background colour, and start Read Aloud from the same view.
High contrast
Edge respects the Windows high contrast setting automatically. Contrast Themes are available in Windows Settings > Accessibility > Contrast Themes. You can also choose a colour theme within Edge at Settings > Appearance > Themes.
Screen reader support
Edge works with Narrator, which is built into Windows and can be started with Windows key + Ctrl + Enter. It is also fully compatible with NVDA and JAWS.
Caret browsing
Press F7 to turn on caret browsing. A text cursor appears on the page, letting you move through content and select text using the keyboard arrow keys, without needing a mouse.
Mozilla Firefox
Text size and zoom
Press Ctrl + + and Ctrl + – to zoom in and out, or Ctrl + 0 to reset. To zoom text only (leaving images and layout unchanged), go to View > Zoom and tick Zoom Text Only.
Fonts and colours
Firefox gives you detailed control over how text and pages appear. Go to Settings > General, then scroll to Language and Appearance. Under Colours, you can set custom text colours, background colours, and link colours. Select Always under ‘Override the colours specified by the page’ to apply your settings to every website you visit.
High contrast
Firefox applies Windows and macOS high contrast modes automatically. For additional control, use the Colours settings above to define exactly the colours you need.
Screen reader support
Firefox is compatible with NVDA and JAWS on Windows, and VoiceOver on macOS. Firefox’s accessibility engine activates automatically when a screen reader is detected, so no extra configuration is needed.
Caret browsing
Press F7 to turn on caret browsing. A text cursor appears on the page, letting you navigate and select content using the keyboard.
Keyboard navigation
Press Tab to move between interactive elements on a page. To enable tabbing to all links (not just form controls), go to Settings > General and look for the option under Browsing. On macOS, you may also need to enable full keyboard access in System Settings > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts.
